At EduPy our goal is to educate people of all ages and provide teachers with free, easy-to-understand resources. The hardest part of computing is getting started, most people have no idea where to look. EduPy gives you a foundation to build on if you want to pursue a career in software or just to learn something new.
The Sustainable Development Goals are a call for action to promote prosperity while protecting the planet. Ending poverty must go hand-in-hand with strategies that build economic growth and address a range of social needs including education, health, social protection, and job opportunities, while tackling climate change and environmental protection. EduPy works toward 5 of the 17 goals; goals 4, 5, 8, 9 & 10.
EduPy works towards goal 4 of the United Nations sustainable development goals, the goal of quality education.
In 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic spread across the globe, a majority of countries announced the temporary closure of schools, impacting more than 91 percent of students worldwide. By April 2020, close to 1.6 billion children and youth were out of school. Never before have so many children been out of school at the same time, disrupting learning and upending lives, especially the most vulnerable and marginalized. The global pandemic has far-reaching consequences that may jeopardize hard-won gains made in improving global education.
EduPy provides free and accessible computing lessons that are taught 100% online. EduPy lessons can be completed at home with no extra guidance or used by teachers to enhance the learning experience.
EduPy works towards goal 5 of the United Nations sustainable development goals, the goal of gender equality.
Gender equality is not only a fundamental human right, but a necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world.
Women are disproportionately represented in the software and computing industry. EduPy welcomes anyone of any gender to jumpstart their career in STEM with a foundation in programming. When women have access to free courses that require no background knowledge, they are more likely to excel in their careers.
EduPy works towards goal 8 of the United Nations sustainable development goals, the goal of decent work and economic growth.
Sustained and inclusive economic growth can drive progress, create decent jobs for all and improve living standards.
Computer technology drives the economy of developed countries and is essential to the future of developing nations. An economy of people equipped with programming and computing knowledge creates the potential for strong economic growth in the future.
EduPy works towards goal 9 of the United Nations sustainable development goals, the goal of industries, innovation and infrastructure.
Inclusive and sustainable industrialization, together with innovation and infrastructure, can unleash dynamic and competitive economic forces that generate employment and income. They play a key role in introducing and promoting new technologies, facilitating international trade and enabling the efficient use of resources. Innovation and technological progress are key to finding lasting solutions to both economic and environmental challenges, such as increased resource and energy efficiency.
Educating the population with the skills required to breed innovation is the first step to sustainable industrialization in developing nations. Computing is the future, EduPy helps people take the first leap towards it.
